Frieder Grindler is one of the big names of German poster design in the second half of the 20th century. And I happen to know him since I was a little boy. Back then I was impressed by Frieder’s art of cooking and the beautiful house and garden I visited regularly with my mother.
He has designed around 250 posters exclusively for those whose payments are the lowest and whose demands are the highest: for playhouses and opera houses, for concerts and ballets, for tragedies and comedies, for theater, music, and television.
There’s a beautiful book about Grindler’s works from 1963-2005.
