It’s been a long time since I last featured fractal worlds here. With Julius Horsthuis I present you a prominent explorer of these foreign territories, that are despite their strangeness a mere mirror of the language of the universe.
Horsthuis harnesses the power of the open-source software Mandelbulb3D to reveal these mesmerizing mathematical landscapes, that some may dismiss as psytrance visuals or the worn out showpiece for the psychedelic experience. Yet these realms reflect a reality beyond their aesthetics and provide a glimpse into the infinite processes of which we are made.
My kind of art can be compared with the art of the photographer or the cinematographer or the documentary maker, it is showing something that exists. The fractal exists. I didn’t create it, I didn’t come up with it, I found it. And I’m trying to show that journey of discovery – that is where the creative part comes in.Julius Horsthuis
