The photographer Jimmy Nelson visited 31 secluded and visually unique tribes around the world. He called this project Before They Pass Away and the result is huge — in extend and significance.
Soon many of these cultures will be gone forever, that’s not to change anymore. But with a memorial like this we at least keep the chance to put our way of life into perspective. Culture is an operating system and “Western Materialism 2.0” is very buggy and lacks features that are essential for survival. Losing ethno-diversity is fatal for humanity not because of a romantic idealization of our archaic past. We simply lose the possibility to learn from each other!
