Kohei Yoshiyuki
The Park

October 16 2014

I hesitated to make this post because what it reveals is a rather weird presentation of human desire. But ultimately it’s a suitable DOP post because these pictures shed a light on something invisible to the naked eye. Technology becomes the key to peep through the door and once again wonder about the human animal.

Kohei Yoshiyuki‘s The Park was shot in three Tokyo parks during the early seventies and is a series of black and white infrared photographs capturing couples meeting up for clandestine trysts and the voyeurs who came out to watch them. Like moths drawn to a light.
